Technology-Enhanced Instruction for Students

This assignment about getting to know our students was an important one. I designed a 'Getting to Know You' questionnaire for the grade 6 class I support and they enjoyed completing it. I've made a point to refer to what they wrote in my interactions with them. For example, I learned that one of the students has a Pinterest board devoted to cats so we had a chat about that and our mutual love of cats in general. When I asked another student about his love of Minecraft, he happily shared with me what he was working on. I think these kinds of interactions are vital for student-teacher relationships. When students know that we genuinely care for them, they are more likely to engage in class.

I also surveyed a few teachers about their technology use in the classroom. Using the information they provided along with the students' answers about their learning, and my own research, I was able to understand how the right type of technology can enrich students' educational experiences. This is only possible if we know our students!

If you would like to take a peek, my findings can be found on this vlog.
