The Future of Learning

For this Future of Learning podcast, I reflected back on the video assignment for Module 1 about Laws and Policy that affect teaching. What struck me the most in researching BC's New Curriculum was the inclusion of core competencies. They are the “soft” skills required for success such as the personal, social, and emotional proficiencies that all students need for more meaningful and life-long learning. Maybe it’s the counsellor in me, but I think social-emotional learning is an essential foundation to any curriculum and contributes to the development of educated global citizens. I thought, wouldn’t it be wonderful if every school everywhere embedded these core competencies into their curriculum, all subjects and grades?
