Communicating Results to Parents

I really appreciated this assignment because parents are the key to student success and having them on board is imperative.

Positive relationships with parents/caregivers should be developed early in the school year by reaching out and introducing ourselves. Consistently updating them with positive feedback on their children’s performance develops trust. And, working together requires teachers to listen to parents/caregivers and collaborate on strategies that support student learning.

This assignment that I submitted is a good reminder to have in my back pocket. I write about the following:

  • Set-up the Context.
  • Glows before Grows.
  • Grows - the concerns.
  • Strategies Used.
  • Action Plan.
  • Ask for Suggestions.
  • Reflect.
  • Follow-up.

Take a peek at my Communicating Results to Parents slide presentation. It's certainly not an exhaustive list of strategies and I will add to it as I continue to learn in becoming a teacher.
